The Life Campaign is about a network of young people from all over Canada who know that how we live at home, can make a difference on the other side of the world. The 2010 Life Campaign is focusing again on providing clean water for those in developing nations who have little or no access to it. We have been focusing on digging water wells since 2008, and have decided to continue with this project in 2010 because of the great success and buy-in we have seen from people across our nation.  And now we want to tell you about Beautiful Day, this October 29th.

This is been a ‘waiting’ time for the Life Campaign where proposals and budgets for wells are going back and forth across the world!  We’ve got well proposals in Guinea with “The Hallelujah” well company, windmill proposals coming in Guatemala as electricity isn’t a given at our location, checks happening in Uganda, proposals going back and forth in Senegal and Burkhina Faso… and more!  As a Canadian I want it all to happen ‘now’, like when I hit start on the microwave - but to do it right in developing nations takes time - BUT have been receiving some incredible thank you’s from workers in the areas who have received and are receiving wells…. that rocks!  Our next post we should have some more live new well pics… stay tuned!

Normally we do small updates - but we thought it would be awesome for you to see a FULL report on a new well that has just gone in Zambia!  We wanted to also let you know that 8 wells are complete with another TWELVE in process - meaning that they are in various stages of action, moving towards completion!  Canadians are literally bringing LIFE to thousands of people!  The picture above is the type of well that we are putting into the country of Guinea to go along with a school.  ok ok - Here is the update:

About 150 students from across the Windsor-Essex region joined together on New Year’s Eve to celebrate LIFE! The all night fundraiser included 55 pizzas, 20 cases of pop & 6 hours of unlimited laser tag and arcade games. The proceeds from the event, coupled with an offering taken up, resulted in $3,636 for LIFE: Just Add Water! Thanks to the students of those great youth groups in Windsor-Essex!

Ghana has been a well that we have been absolutely passionate about - as children have been going blind because of the poor water quality in the village.  After some great fundraising in Saskatchewan, Northern BC and other places - the well is being completed!  We are just awaiting word to say that it is finished.  Thank you for your generosity - as lives are REALLY changed! PS - Sorry our site was down for a bit. We’ve gone through a slow server change!

Those Crazy Albertans took the Beautiful Day concept and RAN with it.  They raised $21000 plus - and most of it over the course of a weekend.  (It made me proud to have been born in Alberta!).  Just had to celebrate that and know that wells like the one pictured above are being made obsolete by the wells the Life Campaign are putting in around the world.  We have exciting well updates to come - so stay tuned!
